You might want to work with me if…
You are a clinical psychologist, therapist or other clinician working with children, young people and their families who are neurodivergent or exploring their families neurodivergence. I have a breadth of knowledge and experience of working with autistic, learning disabled and other broader neurodivergences, how these intersect with child development, family life and learning to live in the world we are currently in. I have experience of designing and working in neuroaffirmative diagnostic services and can support clinicians with differential diagnostic work and moving towards neuroaffirmative working. I have also worked with many families therapeutically and draw on a range of models, including systemic (I’m trained in the Family Partnership Model), attachment, CBT, narrative, neuropsychology, mindfulness and compassion.
My Style
I draw on all the knowledge and experience I describe above, coupled with my deep love of finding new meanings, challenging what we think we know, looking at things from a variety of angles. I’ll no doubt invite you to consider our conditioned neuronormative and often ableist views that our society has which can lead to suffering. I attempt to draw on evidence based practice, with a critical eye on who is setting the research agenda, what was measured and how it was measured. I might also share some poetry or music that could support mindset shifts for you.
